Edgardo Civallero. Profile

The author

I am a librarian, a researcher, a writer and a professor. I am the coordinator of the library of the Charles Darwin Foundation's Research Station at the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). Before that I have worked as an independent information consultant (data management, digital asset management, bioinformatics, data curation, digital/content curation, digital humanities, e-research, knowledge classification, semantic web), as a translator and editor, and, for the last 25 years, as a graphic and editorial designer.

Academically, I have a degree in Library and Information Sciences: my fields of expertise in this area are digital humanities, knowledge classification, oral tradition, library services for indigenous peoples and minorities, and endangered sounds (languages and music). I am also interested in sustainability/degrowth, social/critical librarianship, and decolonization.

On the other hand, I am a musician; in this field I carry out a rich research and divulgation activity, publishing digital articles and books.

My professional profiles as an information professional and as a musician are online, as well as my activities in each area. All my work is stored in the open access archive Acta Académica, as well as in repositories as Academia.edu, Issuu, Scribd and Calameo. I keep several blogs (mostly in Spanish, though; see navbar below).
